Why Tri Delta #12

Written By: Maggie Segars, Sponsor Chairman

For my entire life, I had gone to one school. From preschool until senior year, I was with the same 60 kids. When we graduated, I was ready for something bigger, but I was also very scared. Everyone says that college is the “best time of your life”, which I have found to be one hundred percent true, but I was scared I would not be able to form bonds at school, like the bonds I had at home.

As I went through recruitment, these fears quickly vanished. Tri Delta stood out to me from round one because the girls were so confident in who they were, they were so welcoming, and they were genuinely interested in getting to know me.  By the end of recruitment I knew for sure that I wanted to be a Tri Delta. On Bid Day I opened my white envelope that said I was to become a Tri Delta, and it has been the best decision I have made since coming to Clemson.

It is so hard to believe that exactly one year ago, I was an incoming freshman with no idea of the people I would come to know through Tri Delta, and the impact they would have on my life. Today I cannot imagine my life without these people. They are the kind of people that come into your room to hangout after class, walk with you to Twisted Taco for dinner, then come back to your room until 1 or 2 in the morning, even when we all have class, because you can not stop talking. There is always a dress to borrow for any occasion, a trip to y beach planned, or a dinner at Loose Change. These girls make you laugh until you cry and are always there for you, no matter what.

Tri Delta has truly been an answered prayer. It has given me a group of friends that help me grow as a person in so many ways. It is honestly amazing that even though I have friends that I have known for 18 years, the friends that I have known for less than a year are the people that I go to on my best and worst days. These are the girls that I will be friends with for the rest of my life, and for that I am beyond thankful that I went Tri Delta.
