Hey everyone! My name is Porter Johnson, and I am Clemson Tri Delta’s Internal Philanthropy Chair for 2019. I wanted to update each of you on what our chapter members have been doing to support St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital as our semester comes to a close.

This past Sunday, we all participated in our annual spring philanthropy event Triple Play, where we have teams sign up from many different student organizations to compete in a softball tournament. This year, we had nineteen different teams participate, which is the most we’ve ever had. What made the event even more exciting were the competitive and enthusiastic attitudes of all of our teams. Some teams even hosted practices before the tournament to make sure they were bringing their A-game. Their animated spirits made it easy to become very invested in the games, which I believe truly made this year’s Triple Play really stand out.

However, baseball wasn’t the only activity occurring at Triple Play. People were constantly grilling hot dogs, playing with actual dogs, and socializing. Additionally, we had several raffles for different gift cards and items from a few of our generous sponsors. This new addition to this year’s Triple Play generated a lot of excitement and donations for St. Jude, which we are thrilled about! In addition to the raffle, there were many generous donations made by our sponsors, families, and volunteers, allowing us to more than double the amount of money raised last year from Triple Play. I cannot thank everyone enough for all of their hard work and selfless donations. Without all of your efforts, we would not be able to make such a significant contribution to the kids of St. Jude.

The fun for the year doesn’t stop with Triple Play though! This upcoming Thursday, April 18th, our chapter will be doing a twenty-four hour social media challenge to raise money for St. Jude! This will be our last hoorah for the semester, and we would love your support! Our goal is to raise ten-thousand dollars in a day.
