✰ Stars & Crescent Formal 2019 ✰

We loved Stars and Crescent Formal this year and wanted to give a little recap of the night! This blog is written by Augusta Brook, telling us a bit about her senior formal experience.

My day started at 4:30am, waking up and getting ready for my clinical rotation. Starting at 6:30am my attention was fully on the Pediatrics floor at Greenville Memorial Hospital. I had to stay as busy as possible and get what was expected of me done with so that as soon as my clinical was over I could scoot out and focus on my last formal as a senior. As fun as the little details are, like getting your nails done or making sure that your dress is perfectly steamed, when you’re going into your last and final formal, you forget about all of that. You’re so focused on spending those moments with your friends, not on the small, insignificant details.

By the time I walked in from clinicals, formal prep was a go. I had my dress hanging up, Polaroid camera ready and a pizza in the oven. My senior formal was here and I was simply not prepared. I never really thought too much about my “lasts” at Clemson until they were here. Then I hit my last football game as a student, my last Fall Band and my last first semester. Now they’re here, and they’re hitting me like a truck. I spent the last one with my closest friends listening to music that consisted solely of throwbacks and everyone talking over one another about funny memories of formals past.  It all makes you wish time would just stand still.

As soon as the bus rolled up to Occasions, I went straight to the mini corndogs and meatballs (a delicacy). 30 minutes passed by and I am out on the dance floor dancing and singing with the best band out there, Millionaire Estates. If you’ve ever made it through a band function without eventually throwing your hair up in a ponytail, I applaud you. The next 3 hours consisted of soaking in each minute that was passing by. If I could give you any type of advice, I would say don’t wish away moments like these. Whether they are some of the bigger ones, like formal, or the smaller moments, like a night on the hall watching A Star is Born for the 5th time that month, enjoy everything. Sure the band, the food and the dress are awesome, but that’s not what was so special about the night.  The girls that I’ve spent these last 3.5 years with and will continue to make memories with for years to come, that’s who made it an amazing.
