#WHYTRID - Clare Maloney
#WHYTRID from a rising senior Clare,
My name is Clare Maloney and I am a rising senior from Greenville, SC. I am SO excited that we all get to experience recruitment in person and I just can’t wait for everyone to find their place at Clemson. When I started to brainstorm topics that I wanted to write about, my brain was overwhelmed with so many thoughts about how Tri Delta has exceeded my expectations since day one of recruitment. As soon as I walked through the Little John curtains and I felt such a genuine, uplifting presence in the room, the decision on my end was 100% made.
Although rush was such an important part of the reason I chose Tri Delta, I am here to talk more about what happens after recruitment, leading to some of the happiest moments of my entire life. It is so easy to get caught up in the excitement of joining a new sorority (I was 100% the loudest girl at Bid Day so I get it), but the most important part of being in tri delta is the growth in your relationships after time. Contrary to my personal fears, you don’t fall off the radar after you get a bid. You don’t just get a few cool T-shirts, go to a couple of functions with some girls you barely know, and call it a day. What makes Tri Delta unique is that you become seen, you become important, and you start being molded into the best version of yourself.
For me personally, I have always been a little loud, a little wild, and a little over the top. I thought I might quiet down once I got to college but lord was I wrong. From the second I ran down Bowman field on bid day in 2018 to this very moment, each and every person in this sorority has made me feel so loved and adored just by being myself. I have the greatest group of friends that I have ever known, I have a Big that has literally become my big sister in every way, and I have a community of girls with the same values and love for life. Every girl in Tri Delta is different, but each one is genuine, kind, intentional, and driven. I said earlier that Tri Delta has exceeded my expectations, and I will say it again. I never expected to meet people with such big hearts and funny personalities.
I couldn’t picture my life without having met these girls. I am constantly being encouraged, loved, and pushed to be a better version of myself. And that is exactly what I want for you too -- I want you to find the people that bring light into your life and who care about every move you make and things you say because they love you so much. This sorority has brought me the most joy and love that I could have asked for and I would not be who I am today without their encouragement.
