St. Jude & Tri Delta Celebration: Part Two
Written by: Bricee McEntire
Growing up in Clemson and being raised a die hard Tiger Fan, there was no choosing where I wanted to attend college; Clemson was always it. However, going through recruitment there was a choice I had to make. Tri Delta is the best thing that has happened to me while at Clemson. Between the friendships you make and events you get to attend, there is much more to the name Delta Delta Delta. Our sorority is one of the top donors to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Danny Thomas (founder of St. Jude) once said: “no child is denied treatment based on race, religion or a family’s ability to pay”. I had the opportunity to attend the St. Jude Tri Delta Celebration in Memphis, TN. The trip might have lasted only three days, but the knowledge and words of wisdom I got to hear from St. Jude patients themselves will last a lifetime. It takes 2.4 million dollars a day to run the hospital, but yet the hospital only runs on donations. I found value in Tri Delta because of our philanthropy. It is our top priority to make sure we are continuously raise money for the hospital. At the St. Jude/ Tri Delta celebration, Tri Delta chapters from around the country attended and we got to share our different ideas on fundraising, like our annual softball event, Triple Play. Other schools talked about their pancake events called D-Hop or Tri-Hop. It was such a memorable experience being with your different sisters from all over, but yet all sharing that one thing in common: making sure St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital continues to treat patients.
