Why Tri Delta #7
Written By: Lucy Stevens, Chapter President
How do I even begin to describe my experiences in TriDelta over the last three years? It has been rewarding, motivating, hilarious, memorable, and exciting! I came to Clemson ready to get involved, meet new people and make some fabulous memories along the way. As I enter my senior year, I can say that I have done just that and so much more!
Going through recruitment was the first thing I did upon moving into Clemson, and it was quite a whirlwind! You spend a few days meeting hundreds of amazing, talented, beautiful, and intelligent women, which at times can seem extremely overwhelming. When I walked into Tri Delta for the first time, I noticed all of the amazing attributes of the women I met, and I also felt comfortable, welcomed, and extremely happy. That is exactly why I chose to join this wonderful group of women, and I wouldn’t change that decision for anything. These new women, that are now my sisters, have constantly motivated and encouraged me in every aspect of my life, and I know I can always count on them for wisdom, love, and a good laugh after a long day! When you decide to join a sorority, this is what you should look for, and I can promise you that that is what you will find with the women of Tri Delta.
After recruitment is all over, you get to spend an entire day celebrating with your new sisters on the greatest day of the year also known as BID DAY!!! Let me take you back to Bid Day 2014, when myself and 67 other freshmen and sophomores ran down the hill on Bowman into the arms of 160 screaming Tri Delta women. Talk about awesome!! It was an instant feeling of family and excitement, and I knew I had chosen the best group of women to spend the next four years alongside.
Fast forward three years, and I am still a Tri Delta fanatic! I have made incredible and lasting friendships with some of the most inspiring, hilarious, and remarkable women! We have traveled together to Destin, the Bahamas for spring break trips, and spent weekends visiting each other in Chicago, Memphis, and Charleston over summer break when we had gone way too long since seeing each other! We have spent hours getting ready for functions while scavenging through each other's closets for the perfect outfit hours before the event begins. And of course, you can always find us together grabbing ice cream, walking along the Lake Hartwell dikes at sunset, and snuggled up on the couch enjoying a movie on a relaxing night. There are so many memories I have with Tri Delta, both big and small, that have shaped my college experience.
I am currently serving as the Tri Delta Chapter President, which is such an honor! I knew this role would test my leadership skills and abilities, but with the support from our chapter I knew I could do anything! This past semester was incredible. Our officers have done a remarkable job planning philanthropy events, social functions, and other activities for our chapter. Thankfully, because of the support from my sisters, serving as president has been a joy! I cannot wait for all of the exciting things we have planned for the fall!
So to you, potential new members, I hope that you enjoy the recruitment experience and meeting some of Clemson’s finest women. I am thankful to have found an amazing home in Tri Delta, and I hope that you are able to see all of the amazing qualities of our women as you go through recruitment. The Tri Delta women are like no other!
